We could never have imagined when we launched OKA from an office-barn back in 1999 that we would be here today, celebrating our 21st birthday. We want to thank you for coming on this incredible journey with us.
Such a milestone usually calls for a big celebration, and that’s certainly what we initially had in mind. However, over the last few months our priorities have shifted. We are acutely aware that what’s important right now is not a party, but appreciating life’s ‘simple’ pleasures, such as being able to sit around the dinner table and share a good meal with loved ones.
So here at OKA, we are marking our birthday by announcing the start of a charitable partnership with the Trussell Trust – a cause close to our hearts and closely aligned with our spirit and family values.
The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of over 1,200 food banks to provide emergency food and assistance to people locked in poverty, and campaigns for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

Back in 1999 three great friends and entrepreneurial women - Annabel Astor, Sue Jones and Lucinda Waterhouse - founded OKA with a mission to inspire people to confidently create a home that reflects their personality. Each brought with them their own expertise and taste – the balance of which is the secret to OKA’s individuality and success.
Annabel previously founded and ran a successful jewellery business, which relied heavily on her design know-how and business acumen. Having spent 10 years working with acclaimed fashion designer Jasper Conran, Sue turned her attention to interiors with the establishment of OKA. Known for her artistry, she possesses a unique ability to put a creative spin on any scheme. Lucinda is a keen horticulturalist, a skill reflected in her former business, which created and sold arrangements of realistic faux flowers. She continues to ensure that OKA’s Bunched collections look just as good as the real thing. Together, the trio established OKA’s signature look, originally inspired by the English country house and refined to a style that suits a multitude of personalities and homes. One where nothing is too precious or perfect to be enjoyed.
Today, OKA has become synonymous with timeless style and character; a go-to for interiors enthusiasts looking for creative inspiration for their homes. Whether you want to add a dash of print or colour to a scheme, are searching for expertly crafted furniture and homeware, or simply looking for classic pieces that transcend eras, you can find it at OKA.
Our very first collection was inspired by ancient designs, adapted to suit modern lifestyles. This ethos remains intrinsic to OKA today; we create pieces that are in keeping with traditional styles and artisanal processes yet have a contemporary edge. We believe that inspiration can be found in the most unlikely of places and anything can lead to something beautiful. From mountainous villages to windswept beaches, nowhere is off limits – we are always on the lookout for new ideas.
Once a piece has been conceptualised, the search for the most skilled makers to build, weave or paint each item begins. Our founders travel all over the world to find craftsmen to bring their designs to life. From glass blowers to carpenters, the range of makers we work with is huge, but each possesses skills that have been passed down through the generations. At OKA you’ll find rattan storage and accessories that have been intricately woven by hand, rugs that have been hand block- printed using natural vegetable dyes or treated with a herbal wash and left to dry in the sun to create a specific aged finish.
We return to these trusted craftsmen year on year, and we have had relationships with some for over two decades. Some of our most popular and signature pieces are those that require the most talent to create.
OKA embodies the spirit of effortless British style; that certain flair for gathering ideas from all over the world and distilling them into interiors that feel perfectly put together.
We believe there should be #NoHouseRules when it comes to creating your perfect home. Whether you live in a country house or city apartment, anything goes. Be bold. Layer colours, textures, finishes - just don’t overthink it; an artful mix of styles, cultures and eras is much more interesting than adhering to tradition or convention.
Most importantly, our furniture and accessories are designed to be enjoyed at every moment. So have fun, get creative and save your best for every day.
We have created countless pieces of furniture and accessories over the years, but there are some that are particularly special. Introducing a selection of our OKA icons: items that transcend trends, will stand the test of time and uniquely represent our design aesthetic.
With its sleek, narrow silhouette, studded border and useful back pull, the Stafford strikes a balance between statement and staple. Designed by OKA founder, Annabel, when she was unable to find the perfect upholstered dining chair, the collection launched in 2015 with three neutral shades of leather upholstery and our signature putting green velvet, but has proved so popular we are always adding new colours: you can now find 16 hues of velvet, linen and leather upholstery and even bar stools.
Bashful? Not these curvaceous ceramic lamps. Quite the opposite in fact: large in size and bold in colour, the Calabash is designed to stand out. We believe that a lamp should look just as good turned off as it does on, which is certainly true of this range. Hand-glazed and fired to a crackle effect, each one is completely unique. These lamps work wonders in dark corners – a neutral lamp brightens a gloomy space; a colourful one truly enlivens it.
It took us a while to find a potter who was able to craft Chinese porcelain that looks like a genuine antique, but it was worth the wait for our timeless blue and white Kraak China Range. All of the items in this collection are made and hand-painted by a couple in Jingdezhen – known as the porcelain capital of China – where the traditional techniques used date back over 1,700 years.
Faux flowers have always been a highlight of our collection thanks to OKA founder Lucinda’s horticultural expertise. With minimal care – ours do like a quick blast from a hairdryer to get the dust off occasionally – and zero watering required, they’re one of the easiest ways to update your home. Is there anything quite as classic as an orchid? This mini version is always a best seller as its size ensures it can fit just about anywhere.
A simple, elegant design, the Costellini is elevated by colour and texture. With its many uses, this piece is testament to the fact that sometimes you only need a small piece to completely transform the look and feel of a room. From footstool to side table, the Costellini is just about as versatile as its gets. Whether its vibrant sea blue velvet or classic aged truffle leather you choose, every OKA home should have a Costellini.
Adored by historical figures such as Madame Pompadour, real shagreen, typically crafted from shark or stingray hide, has long been synonymous with luxury. We have always appreciated its beauty and spent years creating a faux version that looks just the real thing. Everyday items shouldn’t have to be understated, and our faux shagreen brings an opulence that is hard to compete with. Just like the Dalu Sideboard.
The dining table is one of the most important items in our homes. It’s where we gather with friends and family and take stock. So, a dining table – and one that extends - had to feature in our selection of iconic pieces. With curvaceous legs that resemble Chinese calligraphy, the Kaishu is representative of our design ethos: we draw inspiration from different places and traditions to create something contemporary and unique.

The marriage of two of our best-selling ranges, these mirrored shelves combine usefulness with glamour. There’s no reason why practical furniture should fade into the background and this is particularly true of the Versailles, which are made by hand and carefully foxed to create an antique effect. They can be as bold as you choose: line a number up for a hall of mirrors effect or arrange one in your study – the choice is yours.
