  • Christmas Gift Guide 2014

Whether you’re buying Christmas presents for lots of people or just a select few, the whole process can be far from enjoyable. We always think long and hard when choosing the ideal gift for our nearest and dearest, and when all the family is all gathered around on Christmas morning sharing and opening gifts, the stress involved in finding that perfect present is always worth it. In our Christmas Gift Guide, we’ve come up with a selection of useful, beautiful and whimsical presents from our collection that we’re also secretly hoping to find in our own stockings this year.

When asking someone what they would like for Christmas, the response, “I don’t need anything”, always fills us with dread. Given no clues whatsoever, we would always opt for an item that serves a practical purpose and can always be accommodated into someone’s home, even if they already own something similar.

You can never have too many glasses, and these red tumblers are the perfect colour for this time of year. An ikat print tray will always come in handy (especially during the festive season), and as well as being a wine bottle coaster, our Mehndi Coaster could be used to hold keys, jewellery or other small bits and pieces.

Stylish desk accessories can be found if you know where to look. Our extensive range is perfect for people who work from home and want their office to look just as beautiful as all the other rooms, and features everything from printed box files to hand-carved wooden paper clip holders, to leather-bound writing pads and even smart pocket tape measures.

We seem to accumulate a lot of “stuff” over our lifetime, so storage (however big or small) makes a great gift. A treasure box veneered in faux shagreen is ideal for a bedroom or dressing room, to house jewellery or other precious items. And you can't go wrong with a simple clear candle holder - it's something people wouldn't necessarily buy for themselves but is always useful to have in the house.

Whilst we would argue that all our accessories are beautiful, there are some show-stopping pieces that stand out from the crowd.

Decorative pieces for the home will always be well received. Choose something classic such as a photo frame in Nut Brown leather or a tortoiseshell-effect tissue box cover that wouldn’t look out of place on a vintage dressing table. No matter what the recipient’s interior scheme is, brass accessories (such as this stunning bowl , coaster and brass candle holder will always work at Christmas time.

We always hope to find a faux fur throw under the tree. Coveted by people and pets alike, not only do they look wonderful draped over an armchair or bed, they’re also extremely soft and warm. For something a little more colourful, wrap up one or two of our faux mohair throws – we guarantee you’ll find a shade to suit any interior.

If you know someone who’s been very good this year, why not buy them something special? Our Chaplet Cushions are the answer: hand-embroidered on a pure velvet base in a variety of rich wintry colours, they really are a thing of beauty.

Something that’s entertaining or completely unique shows gift-buying originality and will definitely earn you a few extra mince pies. Forget novelty gifts – these quirky pieces will be a permanent feature in the recipient’s home for years to come.

Add an alternative flavour to the dining table with an intriguing Maraca Salt/Pepper Shaker (perfect for an impromptu after-dinner sing-song) or the elegant Golden Egg Salt and Pepper Set. Set these pieces off with brown candle holders to complete your cosy dinner.

Introduce an element of fun to everyday items, such as napkins embroidered with different breeds of dog, or a coat hook in the shape of a stag’s head. For objet d’art that’s a little out of the ordinary, how about a pair of ceramic pugs?

Expect the unexpected for even the most practical object in your home. When switched off, these obscurely-shaped table lamps - namely a twig, a Ginger Lily leaf, an animal horn and an elephant - also serve as interesting decorative pieces.

And for those really hard-to-please recipients, OKA gift vouchers allow them to peruse our entire collection to their heart’s content.
