We had the pleasure of catching up with designers, Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead, also known as 2LG Studio, to learn more about the sitting room we invited them to design, discover top tips for furnishing your home and what’s next on the cards in their work.
2LG Studio are a creative duo whose signature style is that of simplicity and elegance (along with a dash of colour). We invited them to create a room using pieces from our striking collection of furniture and accessories. Their design is reminiscent of a Hamptons beach house. The scheme showcases two statement stripe walls using paints ‘Nicaragua,’ ‘French Blue’ and ‘Wash Stop’ by Edward Bulmer Natural Paint, as well as touches of teal and indigo scattered throughout the design. Matching lamps and in-sync prints create a sense of symmetry, while metallic details infuse a touch of traditional glamour. The overall feel of the sitting room is a beautiful balance of quirky and decadent; it’s brimming with textures, from velvet armchairs to a hand-knotted rug and everything in between.
Colour is a passion for us, so that was key, and we wanted to use our signature stripes to bring a fresh twist on a classic look. We love city life and wanted to create a space that brings OKA’s classic look into an urban setting. This could be New York or London and is very influenced by old school Dorothy Draper interiors.
Make it comfortable; add in storage and make sure you have some surfaces to curate displays of your favourite flowers, objects and books to keep the room alive and evolving.
Be bold, you will never regret a bold decision. Also, make sure you love it - who cares if it’s on trend or not? Stripes are so classic, we have played with the scale and colour to give them a really modern, fresh feel. Also, they don’t have to be vertical. Think outside the box, they could be horizontal or even diagonal.
Have what YOU love. We are big believers in curating your home for you. Don’t follow trends and have what makes you happy every day!
We have a very exciting six months coming up! We have a wallpaper and furniture collection launching and lots of great interiors projects all over London. We are really excited about the idea of designing a shop or restaurant, so who knows what will be just around the corner.
