We weren’t all born natural florists, sometimes we all need a little help and who better to help us than Willow Crossley, florist for the stars. If you want to create a faux flower bunch that is Instagram worthy (make sure you tag us and #okaflowerpower), then just follow these five easy steps.
Make sure you have all the useful tools for faux flower arranging: heavy duty secateurs/wire cutters, raffia, and if you are using a shallower pot, oasis sec (especially designed for use with faux flowers).
Choose your stems. I tend to include 70% foliage and 30% flowers. When cutting stems, remember they don’t all need to be the same height – this will make it look more natural.
Begin by placing the foliage stems. Step back and look at your creation as you go, so you keep perspective.
Next, place the Leading Ladies, then the smaller flowers - they will work as fillers. If the bunch is going in the centre of a table, make sure the taller flowers are in the middle.
Don’t be afraid of bending the stems, they are very malleable and need to be moved around. Step back and admire your work. Taaddaaa!
At OKA, we take flowers seriously. Our collection of faux stems is vast and we take great pride in their incredibly lifelike appearance. The great thing about going faux is unlike the real deal, they last forever. There’s nothing more depressing than a four-day old withered, wilting, browning mess, decomposing in a vase. Our collection has all the beauty and none of the hassle. Take a look at our full range here, don’t forget to take a peek at our pre-made bunches if the whole flower arranging process seems like a bit of a hullabaloo.
