ABOUT ANNABEL ASTOR

Annabel Astor Headshot
From an early age Annabel was encouraged to explore her creative side, surrounded by family members who were accomplished artists, designers and writers, including her paternal grandmother Enid Bagnold, author of National Velvet. Notably, it was the women in Annabel’s family who not only inspired her love of art and interiors but also instilled in her a strong work ethic. After all, Annabel was only 18 when she set up her first company, but regardless of her career successes, family is still at her core and she is never as happy as when she is surrounded by her children and her 14 grandchildren.

STYLE

Annabel has a unique talent for designing a room, an art practiced both in her own homes and through OKA. Her skill lies in layering old pieces with new, successfully combining antiques with modern accessories to create timeless, personal spaces that are both beautiful and welcoming.

LIFE BEFORE OKA

Annabel Astor Jewellery
Annabel is a serial entrepreneur with a steady focus on creative business. She was the owner and designer behind the successful Annabel Jones jewellery business. Ground-breaking in its day, Annabel Jones was responsible for creating a brand new style of jewellery that was young, fun, affordable and designed to be worn every day.

It boasted clients including royal families, international heads of state and stars of stage and screen. For 30 years, her shop in Beauchamp Place was a favourite destination for those seeking original and beautiful jewellery.

FOUNDERS' KEEPERS

Annabel’s favourite piece from the OKA collection is the Stafford Dining Chair, which she originally designed for her own home. She wanted to create a dining chair that was incredibly stylish, sumptuously comfortable, but which also boasted a slim silhouette (allowing more to fit around a table). The Stafford has been so popular that it is now available in many different colours and fabrics (velvet, leather and linen).
