It’s Black & White

Anders Olsson, OKA’s interior stylist, designed this period home in Kensington. He created a Swedish-inspired scheme, focusing on neutral colours and minimal accent pieces. He wanted the home to be practical, for busy people, whilst also stylish. Most of the walls are painted white to make the rooms feel spacious. The hallway is an exception to the rule with its onyx faux shagreen panelling; it looks so effective and the contrast really sets off the rest of the house.

Sitting Room

It’s Black & White - Sitting Room

The sitting room is white and airy with classic sofas and armchairs. He added a little drama with the cushions and bar trolley, choosing a simple acrylic design that is not only stylish and quirky but also very practical. No room is complete without art, so Anders included monochromatic sculptures, vases and prints.

Dining Room

It’s Black & White - Dining Room

Gazing at this elegant dining room, you can see why the name ‘It’s Black and White’ was chosen for the look. A colourful bunch of flowers would look out of place in such a minimalistic setting, so he created a unique arrangement brimming with eucalyptus, foxtail and pussy willow. The Stafford Chairs work perfectly with the traditional ‘French walnut’ table, they introduce a contemporary twist.

Hallway

The look and feel of the hallway are in keeping with Swedish-style interiors. A large faux coral steals the limelight and pairs beautifully with other accessories inspired by nature. Clever use of texture is so important in minimalist rooms; our faux shagreen sideboard and velvet Washakie Chairs bring just the right amount.
