Pretty In Pink

This apartment in a Victorian mansion block seamlessly incorporates the relaxed feel of the English countryside into the fast-paced, bustling city of London. The walls have been painted in a slightly dirty pink that is warm and light but not boring - a great alternative to the usual neutral palette of cream or grey, and the perfect backdrop on which to layer muted but bold coloured accessories to create depth and add a rustic warmth.

Sitting Room

This sitting room is filled with plenty of natural light, further enhanced by painting the walls a warm, pale pink. Mixing and clashing is key for this look: colours, patterns and textures should deliberately not match to add character. A large rug is essential as it helps to bring everything together – ideally, choose the rug first then build the rest of the room around it.

Dining Room

A narrow and elegant dining table is ideal for an open plan dining room as it doesn’t encroach upon the sitting area too much. When not in use, it becomes an extension of the living room and the table top can be piled with books or interestingly coloured pots. The muted pink and brown rug complements the walls and velvet dining chairs, whilst bold colour comes from the artwork and cushions.

Kitchen

Kitchens should be sociable and welcoming spaces – warm and cosy, with plenty of places to sit so you can chat to the person cooking. A large rug underneath the dining table creates a separate zone for eating and entertaining. For a post-dinner drink or two, a moveable bar cart in the corner serves up all the essentials.

Family Room

Everything about this informal sitting room is calming - from the gentle colour palette of pale green and pink, to the wall art featuring a sparse forest, to the deep woollen rug with its clean pattern. Tall bookshelves, a coffee table and sideboard provide plenty of neat storage, whilst a modular L-shaped sofa (created using a chaise longue and armless chairs) offers the ultimate relaxation spot.

Master Bedrooom

A combination of dusky pink walls, grey blue silk striped cushions and a soft grey throw work together to create a bedroom so sumptuous, it makes you long for bed. Symmetrical mirrored side tables and tea caddy lamps help to lighten the space, and a striking piece of wall art in complementary colours draws the eye.
