The foundation for almost every coloured paint is a clear, opaque white. Edward Bulmer’s features natural titanium pigment extracted from ilmenite sands. Prior to the 1940s, when titanium became widely used, it was difficult to find bright white paint and decorators had to make do with creams and off-whites made from lead. This plain white is soft, subtle and doesn’t include the harsh blue undertone commonly found in industrial paint. It looks particularly wonderful on ceilings. Environmentally-friendly paint made from plants

Non-toxic

CO2 neutral production process

Mixed in Herefordshire

Perfect for interior woodwork and metalwork

Description & Details

The foundation for almost every coloured paint is a good clear opaque white. Ours is based on Titanium, generally derived from Rutile and extracted using the (safest) chloride process. It is safe enough to use in food and has replaced lead white in all paint making now. The tone is a soft white and avoids the blue whiteness beloved of industrial paint and detergent makers. We will often use it on ceilings in schemes that aim to draw in the light.
