This paint is Edward Bulmer’s take on Prussian blue, a colour rich with history. It all began in a laboratory in 18th century Berlin. Alchemist Johann Dippel and colourman Johann Diesbach were making pigment for ‘Florentine Lake’ paint. They accidentally contaminated the batch, turning it blue rather than red. Testing revealed the colour was stable, and they started producing it in bulk. There was great demand for this new colour; Sir Joshua Reynolds used it in his paintings, along with other famous classical artists. Environmentally-friendly paint made from plants

Description & Details

Sir Joshua Reynolds recommended Prussian blue for this colour and so it is what we use, though to give the colour a little extra sophistication we have added a touch of Carmine. This is a strong blooded blue that makes a statement when you want to push the boat out!
