ABOUT LUCINDA WATERHOUSE

Lucinda Waterhouse Headshot
Lucinda’s fascination with interiors began in her childhood, when her mother – who loved collecting pictures, china and furniture – inspired her interest. Throughout her life she has enjoyed travelling and getting to know new countries, both near and far. Having a keen eye for the right products at the right time, this inveterate traveller considers this her life's passion, not merely a job.

STYLE

Lucinda creates homes not showpieces - all of which contain a combination of eclectic colours and patterns. Comfort and understatement mixed with good lines and a true understanding of colour make Lucinda's offerings timeless classics. As well as having a keen eye for design, she is a flower specialist and has lead OKA’s faux flower movement. She gets inspiration from her travels – absorbing the cultures, styles, scents and, of course, the food.

LIFE BEFORE OKA

Annabel Astor Jewellery
Lucinda has a passion for fine art, antiques and, at the very forefront, faux flowers - a love that was reflected in her former business, which created and sold unique arrangements of beautiful and very realistic faux flowers. Lucinda made faux not only acceptable, but a must-have.

FOUNDERS' KEEPERS

If Lucinda had to choose her favourite pieces from the OKA collection, it would have to be the Kraakware china. For many years, the three founders searched for someone who could create these traditional Chinese porcelain designs, but no one was quite up to scratch. During one trip in Jingdezhen (known as the ‘Porcelain Capital’), they stumbled across an incredibly talented couple, who had the skills to hand-paint porcelain in the designs the founders had envisaged. Over a decade has passed since that coincidental trip; the potters now have a whole team, every piece is still hand-painted and the Kraakware range is still one of our most popular.
