  • What is made-to-order furniture?

    Made-to-order furniture is crafted after you have specified your preferences, rather than being ready-made prior to purchase. Our Tailored by OKA collection is customized by you, meaning that you pick the style, size, material, color and leg finish, before we hand the project over to our artisans who begin work on building the piece. In contrast, ready-made furniture has already been crafted to a specific design.

  • Why should I choose made-to-order furniture over ready-made options?

    It is entirely up to you whether you would like a ready-made piece of furniture or a made-to-order piece of furniture. The benefit of customizable furniture is that you can choose the style, size, color, fabric and leg finish. This means that you can design the piece around your tastes and your interior style so that it is personal to you and your home.

  • How do I start the process of getting made-to-order furniture?

  • How long does it take to have made-to-order furniture created?

    The lead time for our made-to-order furniture will vary depending on your requests. Since our made-to-order seating is made in the US by a carefully chosen family-run business, we estimate a production time of 12-14 weeks. It can then take up to four weeks for the piece to arrive in your home depending on where you are located, but our team will give you a more accurate timeline when you place your order. Our carrier will contact you directly once the piece has been shipped and has arrived at the delivery terminal in your area.

  • Is the 12—14 weeks estimated lead time for made-to-order furniture manufacture realistic?

    With all of our Tailored pieces, we aim to manufacture them as quickly as possible with a focus on attention to quality. We have been very successful in meeting the estimated timeframe and in some cases improving on the date given. Depending on where you are located, it may take longer for the piece to arrive in your home.

  • Can I choose the materials used in made-to-order furniture?

    You can choose the upholstery material of your made-to-order furniture from our wide selection of linens, leathers, velvets, wools and fabric blends. The frames of our Tailored by OKA collection are crafted from sustainably sourced European beech and birch hardwood, while the legs are crafted from sustainably sourced birch hardwood available in two finishes: Ebony or Grayed Oak.
  • Can I request specific dimensions for my made-to-order furniture?

    Our made-to-order furniture comes in a wide array of specified shapes, from Armchairs, Chair and a Halfs and Loveseats to various Sofa sizes. We also offer Square and Rectangular Footstools.
  • How does shipping work with made-to-order furniture?

    It is important that you provide us with both your contact number and email address at the time of purchase so that our carrier can contact you. When the piece arrives at the delivery terminal in your area, they will get in touch to set up a date and time for delivery that suits you. The item will be unpacked and installed in your home. Before you make your purchase, please speak to our team about property access, measurements and any other details. We will require you to share this information and make any necessary preparations to ensure delivery is successful. If we are unable to deliver your item due to undisclosed information or a change in situation, we will refer to our cancellation Terms and Conditions, unless adjustments are made to make completion possible.
  • How do I take care of made-to-order furniture?

  • If the completed made-to-order piece is not what was expected, what happens?

    During the early stages of choosing your furniture, it is important that everything is carefully considered. We will assist you by showcasing multiple possibilities in the collection to help you to make a decision you are happy with. Large swatch samples are available to view in our showrooms to give you a clear example of how the finish will be post-manufacturing. You can also order up to five complimentary fabric swatches from our website.
  • Will I be updated on the progress of my order?

    Updates can be requested within 72 working hours of placing your order, by emailing [email protected] or, if the original order was placed in one of our showrooms, you can contact the store directly to request an update.
