Environmental, Social and Governance at OKA
By reducing waste and using more ethically and responsibly sourced materials, OKA will inspire and enable our customers to create more sustainable homes.
At OKA we believe in minimising our environmental impact and inspiring positive change. By developing a more complete overview of our environmental footprint, we will be able to improve our environmental performance over the weeks, months and years to come.
We will continue to improve our data collection and management across our global operations. In both the UK and US, we will focus on what can be achieved at a local level, through the monitoring of areas such as transportation and energy usage, while tackling the measurement of our carbon footprint throughout our supply chain.
Promote a low-carbon supply chain
We are committed to tackling climate change. We aim to significantly reduce our carbon footprint, as well as achieve a reduction in our greenhouse emissions, which we are committed to monitoring on a quarterly basis. We will also work to ensure the efficiency of transportation of products from suppliers to our warehouses and from our warehouse to our customers, to keep greenhouse gas emissions to a minimum.
Source renewable and ethical resources
Using energy more efficiently and opting for renewable energy is essential when it comes to combating climate change. In 2019, 15% of our energy consumption came from renewable sources. In the years to come, we aim to use renewable sources wherever possible while improving energy efficiency in our operations and reducing our energy consumption. We are also committed to responsible water management and will work with our suppliers to gain more transparency with regard to their water usage.
Promote responsible waste management
We are committed to promoting responsible waste management and reducing waste. In promoting responsible waste management, we will prioritise making our packaging, including plastics, recyclable. We have a packaging and recycling review underway; we will monitor our waste and work closely with our suppliers to find better solutions, as well as improve our reporting in this area.
