In Irish folklore, freckles, or bricini, were given by the gods—the "little stars" were gifted so that no one would ever lose sight of the constellations. If Bricini were a person, they'd be forever complimented on their enviable smattering, and we expect the same will be true of this vase, the dots of which are the result of firing the glaze at a very high temperature.
